Who We Are
Erik and Shannon were born and raised in Iowa, where the gold standard of pork comes from. While not farmers themselves, they come from a family of farming, dedication to the land and hard work. Entrepreneurial fires burned in both, along with a broad set of professional skills to draw upon and most importantly the two share a love for good, pure, clean food and making the simple things, extraordinary. Realizing their mutual passion and a need they decided to join forces and start Tender Belly in May 2010. Business proved to be good with the lure of “tasty bacon” too good to pass up and now Erik and Shannon would like to offer a taste of Tender Belly to you, our fellow pork lovers.

Because we understand that anything good takes time and commitment. Fine pork can only make its way to your table after the utmost care and devotion to the well being of the animal. The animals live a stress free life with plenty of open space to roam and exercise. This freedom promotes exquisite intramuscular marbling. We also understand that the choice of diet influences the taste of our pork; that is why they are fed an all natural 100% vegetarian diet. Dedication to all these aspects is why our pork products are the finest available and might we say “the most delicious” you’ll find.
